    Who the f*ck eq's a vocal after putting a delay on it? And also a low cut of 150 hz on every vocal? No! Every vocal is different! And a low shelf of 7db up to 500? If u cut so much u will have a thin vocal, try it, u will see. Overall on a woman' s vocal

    • @queenpurple8433

      He didn’t say on every vocal. He said on that vocal. And it sounded full and clear in the video with the track example he used. Obviously if your source is brighter you shouldn’t do exactly what’s in this video.

    • @michaelleitner4334
      @michaelleitner4334 5 днів тому

      @@queenpurple8433 yes, because there was a big delay and maybe also a small amount of plate reverb on it, and that clouds the sound heavily! Also there where many other effects on it. Thats cheating! When he sweeps arround on the low mids, there is no difference! Try to listen! Who does the eqing after putting time related effects on the source? No one. U do the eq on the dry cutted vocal normally, than usually u compress it, and to make it sit fine in in the mix, u put this effects on it "It sounded full and clean in the video" Try that at home, cut 150 on a womans vocal and put a low shelf up to 500hz on it. Cut 7dp on this shelf and after u tell me here how it sounded.

    Waiting to mix until the song is complete is so crucial. I literally learned this yesterday. A solid vocal will make everything so much easier because at that point, there's no reason to geek out over guitar tone because it's no longer the focus when there are vocals. Great video.

    How would I apply these mixing tips to a band with 1 guitar player , where riffs go in and out of rhythm style mutting and lead style Is accents in the same riff. Like for example an Adam Jones style guitar player with a touch of Dime bag I can sometimes make the chugging sound good then the higher notes get lost and or vice-versa

    I think it’s funny that (in general) people try to make their real acoustic drums sound fake and others try to make their fake midi drums sound real. I don’t know how many production videos, or behind the scenes video of a band in the studio I’ve watched, where they have such a nice performance and sound, and when they are mixing it and doing post production, they are just ripping the soul out of the kit. And I understand it’s all subjective. I just think if you are going for a really fast technical drum sound, with barely any overhead and room mic sound in the finished product, there’s a lot of corners you can cut that will save you time. Or the dudes that are on video giving you a breakdown of their expensive custom drum kit and then they replace every hit in their DAW. Just thinking out loud, this is directed at you or anything lol. Big fan of the channel, thank you for the content you make 🤘🏻🤘🏻

    Nice! Bobby's mixes usually sound stellar even though I'd maybe make a different decision here or there but that's personal taste and style. From a technical view, his mixes are always top notch. However, this one honestly sounds thin and unfinished when the Rear Buss is disengaged. Maybe he balanced it like this for clearer demonstrattion purposes? Just a hint for anyone trying this for the first time: Your mix should sound render-ready to you in the first place before you even start setting up the Rear Buss routing. It then adds the final 2%. You'd rather not want to move any faders anymore except for that final Rear Buss one. Level 2: Try to set it up in a way that your main vocals are triggering the Rear Buss compressor the most. Often this is automatically the case when just sending everything post fader and unity gain cause more often than not your main vocals are the most prominent element of your mix-minus-drums. With your vocals hitting the Rear Buss compressor the hardest and considering the 200-400 ms release time you'd probably go for, the other instruments are being pushed down considerably together with the vocals, obviously. When blended back in, you not only achieve parallel thickness, but you also create the impression of the vocals slightly ducking away the other instruments. On top, if you go Dual-Mono like Schepps does, the left and right channel are reacting slightly different, which creates movement and depth. That's why Rear Buss compression is often referred to as a kind of auto-balancing or self-mixing (as in "the mix mixes itself") magic trick. Again, it should add the very last sparkle to all your careful automations and not replace any of these!

    you and hardcore music studio are my go to, to follow the objective and effectiveness way to think and all videos are amazing ALL. both of you, but i have a question: do you think this approach about old plugins and some medium gear, can be like out of date? and look, again you guys are my go to, cause match with the way I love to sound and my 2000s favorite bands sounds, but I think in some point the new things also deserve some eyes. like Bogren stuff, Neural Stuff and other more modern stuff, AGAIN I don't care about plugins and marketing thing but, I would love to have this question answered in your videos of Q&A(IDK if you get my point) cause there are NOBODY that i learn more than you and more other 2 channels. Anyway, killer video as always!!!
